Condition of Stamps

1887 - 1951

Fine Used stamps from this period will be cancelled by a CDS, a Neat light Wavy Line, or an Oval Registered cancel and will be without any imperfections.

Good Used stamps from this period will be a sound stamp without imperfections with a heavier postmark than FU.

AV Used stamps from this period may have a heavier postmark than Good Used and may have imperfections.

Spacefiller stamps from this period will have Faults, such as a thin, straight or missing perfs or small tear.

We offer mint stamps from 1887 - 1951 in three conditions. 

U/M = Fresh Unmounted Mint (no hinge mark) without imperfections.

Fresh M/M = Good Fresh Colour with hinge mark or remainder. Without imperfections

Average Mint = Unused with Gum. May have one or more of the following: tone spot, crease, short perfs or other imperfections.

1952 - to date

U/M = Fresh Unmounted Mint (no hinge mark)

FU = Fine Used light Cancelled, usually cancelled with a circular date stamp. Modern stamps are usually supplied on piece.

FDC = First Day Cover (normally a Post Office First Day Cover with Bureau postmark in as new condition)
